It’s been almost 3 months now since the last local transmission of Corona Virus or Covid-19 here in Vietnam. That’s why the government already allowed people to travel locally. Having said that, recently, I had a short trip to the beautiful province of Hoa Binh in North Vietnam and spent 3 days and 2 nights at Mai Chau Hideaway.
How to get here?
Well, I took a public sleeper bus from My Dinh Bus Station in Hanoi to Mai Chau, Hoa Binh. The fare is around 150,000 VND ($6.50) and you can tell the driver’s assistant to drop you at Tong Dau point. From there you still need to ride a motorbike or Xe Om for 100,000 VND ($4.50). It will take you 3-4 hours from Hanoi to Mai Chau.
But if you don’t want any hassle, I recommend you to book a private shuttle with them because there’s only a very small difference when it comes to the fare. They offer 300,000 VND ($13) per person per way. It’s just 50,000 VND ($2.20) difference which I think it’s better and more comfortable. So you can contact the hotel directly for a shuttle service. That’s what I did, going back to Hanoi.
As I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Mr. Ricky (GM) and the receptionist. They are actually quite busy during that time but he still assisted me and went the extra mile to make sure that I’m doing good. Since I arrived very early, I just walked around first, had a quick glance at the property, and took some photos. Then after a few minutes, my room is ready.
Executive Suite Rustic Room
I was in awe as I enter my room. It’s spacious and has a view of the stunning lake. The traditional design of the whole room makes it more appealing, relaxing, and welcoming. It also has a huge glass door going to the balcony that allows plenty of natural light. Which I really prefer, for those who know me, sunlight makes me energetic, lively, and productive. Hahaha. It’s a fact. 😊
The room includes a private bathroom with bathtub, safe locker, fridge, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, and their commodious balcony with a captivating view of the Hoa Binh lake. It is also equipped with an expedient working desk and high-speed Wi-Fi which is perfect for a digital nomad like me.
Mai Chau Restaurant is located on the second floor of the main building where you can find the Reception area. It caters Asian and European cuisines. For me, the highlight of this restaurant is there outdoor dining area where you can see the whole resort and the spectacular lake.
Infinity Pool & Spa
I’ve been to different hotels here in Northern Vietnam yet this is one of the most fascinating infinity pools I’ve seen by far. The Hoa Binh Lake is like genuinely connected to it. Ideal indeed for this hot weather and perfect for families, friends, backpackers, and couples.
Aside from the pool, they also have a spa, The Suoi Lon Spa. It’s located right next to the swimming pool. So if you’re here to relax and want to recharge after a long day and your daily responsibilities, their spa services will definitely be appropriate for your exhausted mind and body.
On my last night, I’ve witnessed a traditional dance of the locals of Hoa Binh. I’ve actually missed it on my first night but, good thing that they still have it on the second night. The receptionist or Mr. Ricky will inform you if there will be a performance like this at night upon your check-in. What I like about this is that the audience has a chance to participate in the latter part of the traditional dance. Sounds engaging right? 😊
“My stay here at Mai Chau Hideaway is exceptionally harmonious and pleasant. You will experience a very fresh and relaxing atmosphere. Each and every staff did their job really great. I highly recommend this resort if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. You’ll not regret it!”
